Name: Pam
Due Date: June 29, 2008
Expecting: A Boy!

I have a wonderful 12-year-old son who has been a joy to me from the day of his birth. After 18 years of marriage, his father and I divorced and I knew I would never marry again. My son was the blessing from the Lord that held me together during this time.
When my son was 10, a friend introduced me to a man named Donnie who was everything I had always thought a man should be. Donnie proposed to me and (with my son’s approval of his new step-dad!) we married within 3 months of meeting each other! We hoped to get pregnant but had to work quickly since at the time of our marriage I was 41 years old.
In fall of 2006 we got pregnant! However, after only 9 short weeks of happiness, I had a miscarriage. The Lord brought us through this time and we know that our little baby is in heaven waiting for us.
We thought we would try once more. One day, after 8 months of trying, I was out visiting a client with a nurse friend and told her I thought I was coming down with a stomach virus. She said, “Maybe you are pregnant. Let’s stop in the drugstore and get a pregnancy test.”
I didn’t think I was pregnant, but I was a day late on my period (not unusual). We stopped and I did the test in the drugstore bathroom. It was positive!!
I couldn’t wait to tell my husband, so I called him at work on the phone and he did not believe me. I let my friend talk to him to confirm it was positive. He was so happy he started crying!
I am 43 and this pregnancy is much harder on me than my first pregnancy 13 years ago.
When I was pregnant at age 30, I was in the habit of running about 5-6 miles a day and working on the night shift for the Postal Service. I was in great shape physically. When my son was born, he was a wonderful joyful miracle of life and has blessed me so much through his sweet personality and kindness.
This pregnancy I am 43 years old, which has caused a bit of stress, just thinking of the possibilities associated with giving birth later in life. This time I am about 10, no, 20…well, let’s just say I weigh more than I did and do not run 5-6 miles a day!
This time I not only have a wonderful husband who is so supportive of me, but I also have a wonderful son who is helpful as well, and excited about having a baby brother!
Having been through the birth process before, I am not as nervous about being a mom because I know that the Lord has His hand on us. The excitement and anticipation is just as great… and I have to admit there are times of wondering and nervousness as well.
The miracle of life is just as wondrous and inspires me to praise the Lord just as much this time around!!
On what winning the Baby Shower gift package would mean to her…
Winning would be a blessing from the Lord to us! Since we are basically starting over we have no baby items at all, and would be tickled to death if we won this contest!
